Ash/Plague Backstory
Ash was once a decorated homicide detective, known for his sharp instincts and relentless pursuit of justice. Years of bureaucracy, corruption, and the weight of unsolved cases finally broke his faith in the badge. Leaving the force behind, he became a private investigator—working in the shadows, chasing cases others were to afraid to take. His latest case brought him to a quiet village in Japan plagued by disappearances and whispers of dark demonic rituals. His client was Tsukiko Hirada, a shrine maiden who claimed to seek his help in rooting out a festering tumor in her home. A cult known as the "Worshippers of Abaddon". Ash took the case not knowing that Tsukiko was a kitsune in disguise, hiding her true form unable to intervene in human problems without exposing herself. She was seeking someone bold enough to confront the evil festering in her homeland and save the humans she cared for.Ash’s investigation led him into the cult’s hands. They weren’t simply zealots; They were an organized satanic cult looking to bring Abaddon into this world. Ash being the perfect vessel. Trapped and betrayed, Ash was mutilated in a grisly ritual—his body torn apart and remade into a vessel meant to house the demon. His soul was ripped from him, left hanging at the edge of hell. At the brink of oblivion, Tsukiko exposing herself, intervened. Using her spiritual power, she bound Abaddon inside Ash’s mutilated corpse and pulled his soul back into his broken frame. Though alive, Ash was forever changed. His flesh bears the scars of the sacrifice: pale, corpse-like skin, a grotesque and almost zombie-like visage that marks him as something not entirely human. Yet beneath that twisted shell, his mind and spirit remain his own.Now going by Plague, Ash exists as both man and monster. He continues his work as a private investigator, but his cases now dive into the supernatural underworld, where cults, curses, and corrupted spirits linger. With Tsukiko at his side, he struggles daily against Abbadon’s hunger and fury, walking a razor’s edge between control and possession. Together, they fight to banish the Hell Knight back to the abyss and gather the souls needed to restore Ash’s body to its human form. But until that day, he remains a grotesque reminder of the price of truth: a detective who hunts monsters while wearing the skin of one.
